About Me

MATH

As a math educator I am passionate about how people learn math, the social factors that affect student learning in a classroom, and finding ways to promote a welcoming environment where students are encouraged to explore and discuss mathematics.

As a mathematician I love exploring the combinatorics, algebra, and geometry of mathematical objects.

PERSONAL

I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and raised in the Bay Area (Newark, Berkeley, Hercules). I'm married and a father to my two beautiful girls. Some fun facts about me are that I am a huge Legend of Zelda fan, I love Dragon Ball anything, and I use to be a professional salsa dancer.

DANCE

"I love salsa!" I have been dancing salsa since 2004 and have participated in several Bay Area teams. I love going out social dancing and meeting new people. The Bay Area salsa community is a beautiful one and I feel blessed to have salsa in my life.
